Some of the sandwiches on offer are the cold roast beef with horseradish and arugula on an onion bun; the Cajun pork dog on a pretzel bun; and the Moroccan spiced lamb with cucumbers, tzatziki, and chili oil on flatbread. For a meat-centric and sophisticated dinner head to Toups Meatery in Midcity. Here you'll find cocktails by the pitcher and the "Meatery Board" with a selection of cured meats. Menu options include the double cut pork chop served with dirty rice; Wagyu with cheese curd fondue and a roasted corn chimichurri; slow-cooked lamb neck; confit chicken thighs with a cornbread dressing; and the Gulf seafood couvillion, a dish of Louisiana Gulf fish, shrimp, and crab fat rice. Of course, you should also find some of the seafood New Orleans is known for, and there's no better spot than Felix's Restaurant & Oyster Bar. This casual, local favorite offers fresh seafood dishes (think stuffed catfish or seafood gumbo) and fresh oysters delivered daily. Where to Stay If Bourbon Street is your home base, consider a stay at Royal Sonesta for your New Orleans bachelor party.

No umbrellas necessary for the band. (Photo: Greg Keraghosian) With some negotiation, we were able to book a local band called Lagniappe for $400 for 30 minutes, and we tipped them an extra $80. You may have to pay more or less, depending on your timing and parade length. That brought our costs to a grand total of $855. 25 — divided six ways, that's a way better deal than blowing all your money on hurricanes and gumbo (though truth be told, we had those in abundance, too). I spent an extra $10 on Oakland Raiders beads for our man of honor, Scott, who bleeds silver and black. Commitment to excellence … and wearing beads. (Photo: Greg Keraghosian) There was the added expense of having to buy umbrellas at the last minute — this being spring in New Orleans, the rain comes and goes, and it decided to arrive just as we took to the streets. But one man's umbrella is another man's parasol, and they were handy dancing props for those of us who didn't want to get soaked. The only problem with the Mardi Gras is that it falls on different dates each year. Therefore, prepare your budget only after finding out its exact date. The Jazz Fest is worth making the journey to New Orleans and more so for a bachelor party. The festival often takes place between the last weekend and first weekend of April and May respectively. The festival means that you would not appear strange when you show up for the New Orleans bachelor party wearing the Hawaiian shirts and the very popular broad-brimmed hats. However, do the bookings six months to a year earlier prior to the Jazz Fest. Tales of the Cocktail would also be a perfect time for planning the bachelor party in New Orleans. If you need a good reason for taking your bachelor party to New Orleans, then know that the Tales of the Cocktail, which takes place in July of every year, is the biggest meeting between beer brands and bartenders in the US. However, what you should realize is that the airfares can be a bit high during this season.
