Holy Island ( Scottish Gaelic: Eilean Molaise) [1] is an island off the west coast of Scotland, near the Isle of Arran. Understand [ edit] Originally called Inis Shroin (House of the Water Spirit), the Holy Island seems to have been a place of great spiritual importance from the time it was founded. The island later became the home of Saint Molaise. He lived in a cave, which has since been named after him. Today, Holy Island is home to a community of Buddhist monks, who follow the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. Apparently, a vision of the Virgin Mary persuaded the previous owner to sell the island to Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche, who is one the monks. There are two settlements on the island; the Centre for World Peace and Health in the north and the monastery in the south, the latter being off-limits to outsiders. Alcohol, tobacco, meat and drugs are all banned by the monks on Holy Island. If found with them, you can expect a somewhat hostile response from the Buddist monks and will be asked to leave the island, you have no obligation to comply.

Marsaxlokk, fishing village constellated with colourful luzzus Marsaxlokk village is located in the south-eastern part of Malta which is famous for its big Sunday fish market and its many decorative "eyed" painted boats called Luzzus. The village has around 3200 inhabitants and in the past, most of the inhabitants worked as fishermen. The name Marsaxlokk comes from the word "marsa" which means port and the word "xlokk" which means south in Maltese. Marsaxlokk has an old history dating back to the ninth century BC. It was in this bay that the first Phoenicians arriving in Malta landed and set up their businesses. It was here that the Turkish fleet anchored during the Great Siege in Malta. Marsaxlokk's hill of Tas-Silg was used as a religious site and still contains remains of megalithic temples of the Tarxien phase. There were also Bronze Age tools found on the hill. Even though Marsaxlokk is a charming village with its traditional, brightly painted Luzzus, tasty fish restaurants and its green water, tourists at times don't visit the town due to its shipyards and power station.

A stovetop and toaster are also provided, as well as a kettle and a coffee machine. We loved the location of this property and the size. It was the first place in Croatia and Italy that had an ironing board an iron (yay! ). Very comfortable. Wonderful AC. A few minutes outside of the square. The layout of the room was nice too. It had really nice views as well. It rained the one evening and we lucked out that the property supplied an umbrella. There was also a clothesline to dry our items. Communication between us and the hosts was awesome. They checked in with us way ahead of time which was nice. Easy to find them in the square as well. Cyclades Santorini Santorini, a regular on "most beautiful islands in the world" lists, is truly singular. From its rocky perch 300 metres above the Caldera, the result of a volcanic eruption that carved out much of the area's islands, catch a postcard-worthy sunset with a loved one. Koufonisia Between the islands of Naxos and Amorgos is the Robinson Crusoe, off-the-radar, island trio called Koufonisia, which collectively forms part of the five Small Cyclades: Koufonisia, Keros, Schinoussa, Heraklia and Donousa. Sometimes referred to as the Minor Cyclades. Tinos Home to over 60 Cycladic villages, Tinos is the hidden gem of the Greek islands. Villa life is the norm here, and over the years has attracted a wealth of writers, poets and thinkers, many of who reside round trip. Greece The most famous, and quite possibly most photographed islands in the Aegean Sea, the Cyclades are known for their white-washed hillside houses, soaring high above an azure bay or the wine-tinged sea. Here the architecture is cubist and mixed with bright blue domes, heritage windmills and white churches.
