I looked to my right and BAM there was Mt. Fuji on my right. We weren't able to see Mt. Fuji the day before so this was my first time seeing it. I half-walked, half-ran back to our hotel (since we booked the room that was facing Mt. Fuji) and hurriedly ran to the balcony to see and I snapped this picture. I went to the Kawaguchiko Music Forest, the entrance fee hurts honestly (1, 300 yen with the Fuji-Hakone Pass discount) but it paid itself off pretty well in the end. I was able to see a live sand art demonstration of the story of The Crane Wife as well as an Opera singer singing along to mechanical organs, it was fascinating because I had no idea it was even a thing. Plus, I was also able to buy a simple music box that played the Totoro theme song! Finally, we went to Iyashi no Sato. It's an open air museum where each house had something to show. I'll admit it was a bit touristy as it sold different items inside the house but I was able to buy two small paintings of Mt. Fuji inside one the houses and since the artists was there, he was able to sign the paintings!

The place is a bit of a maze, feels very traditional and very sweet. The Japanese theme is very traditional - it feels like you're getting the real Japanese experience if you stay here. The bathrooms seem clean. The kitchen area has ample space for your things, good facilities and teabags available for guest use. We hadn't been in an onsen before so can't compare, but they seemed clean, very hot, very steamy, almost like a boiling spa inside a dark sauna. You could cool down the water a bit with a cold tap, but it took a long time. Note the rules are you can't wear a bathing suit, though you can lock the door. Very clean and simple rooms, but could do with bedside tables. The rooms seem to have extremely thin walls, you can hear everyone walking around the hallways, if you're trying to sleep at unusual times or you are a light sleeper, that may not suit you. Place relatively handy to everything including the train station, cable car, great dumpling restaurant, and a convenience store.

I was thinking might make sense to get it and activate it when we go to Kyoto and it will cover us until we get back to Tokyo. However, its 390 euro for the 2 weeks which is quite pricey. Just wanted to get opinions. Also, I plan on having 3500 euro for the whole trip. I was planning to get a new phone, if I don't do that I will have 4500 euro. Will 3500 be enough for 21 days or would I struggle? The money mentioned is just spending/travel. I have paid for flights and accommodation is sorted too. Finally, do you guys think Hakone will be okay to be in around the times I'm there? I know nobody really knows but going on the past situations what can I expect? Also what is that Tori gate like in the lake to propose to in front of? I'm assuming it will be very busy but any tips on times to go there for would be great. Thanks all!
