The silence is overwhelming. The final leg of the trail takes you up to the open fell of Rautunturi. Follow the red cross marked trail up to the large cairn at the top of the hill. Stop awhile here to admire breathtaking views as far as the eye can see across Lapland, and towards the Russian border. Sokosti and Ukselmapää are clearly visible as the shifting light drifts over the vast landscape. It's truly one of the highlights of the walk and the park. The path continues, following either the cross-marked trail around Rautunturi, or via a spur path leading to the highly recommended trail crossing Rautupää and Niilanpää, from which the solitary joy of high fell walking can be experienced. After a final descent to join the main trail near the reindeer fence, the final leg leads back to the Kiilopää trail head. In short, this trail bestows a peaceful solitude not easy to find in mainland Europe. It has an ethereal quality which makes the experience of walking its trails unlike any other. For something a little different, Urho Kekkonen National Park is well worth a visit.

The countdown begins for our MASSIVE exhibition launch day on Saturday 7 October. We look forward to hearing about your experiences when you see ALL of these am... azing works in person. The festivities start at 1pm! Free food and refreshments from our in-house restaurant, Bellbird. We have FIVE exhibitions in store for you: 'Have you seen MY Emily' is a major, new Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre commission and the first institutional solo exhibition of Wiradjuri conceptual artist Amala Groom. Based upon an actual conversation, the installation seeks to expand upon the language of ownership and authority surrounding western perceptions of Aboriginal art and culture, unveiling the indistinct nuances of interpretation and the potentially shocking hidden truths that language can possess. "The Motion Room" is a collaboration with Think+DO Tank Foundation, which is guided by the question: what would make life easier or better for you? It features works made by women and young people living in the Green Valley and broader Liverpool communities in collaboration with; Katie Green, Province Studio (Anne-Louise Dadak & Laura Pike), Joey Ruigrok van der Werven, Monica Kumar, Luke Cignarella, Afaf Al-Shammari, Jane Stratton, Pia Larsen, Janet Parker-Smith, Annie McKinnon, Claudia Chidiac, Dominique Hage, Kim Siew, Nicole Barakat, Stephanie Peters, Hepa Taahi, Cabinet of Wonder (Tim Jetis), and Velinda Wardell.
